Mistakes I Made in Finding My Niche
Hey Hustlers,
Hope you all are doing great!
Today, I'm going to discuss a really interesting topic: How to Find Your Niche.
I receive a lot of DMs from people around the globe about having the issue with finding their niche.
Finding a perfect niche is indeed a tough task. It took me almost 3-4 years to figure out what works best for me.
Trust me, I have tried my hand at multiple niches, and nothing worked out for a long period of time. It is a long, tedious process.
It was starting of 2022 when I finally figured out that “Making Money Online” is my favourite topic to write and talk about.
If you ask me today whether I still enjoy this topic, the answer is an enthusiastic yes. I regularly watch new YouTube videos, read articles, and browse Reddit posts about it. I am so passionate that I can confidently say I could create content on this topic for the next 8 to 10 years, if needed.
But, along the journey I made a mistake and I don’t want you to repeat the same.
I feel that it took me a long time to find the right topic. Had I followed a smarter process, I could have started creating content about online money much earlier.
So, if you are just getting started or planning to do the same, here is my 5 points (my 2 cents), try to avoid making these mistakes.
Ignoring Your Passions
When choosing a niche, aligning it with your interests or passions is crucial. Creating content about something you don't care about can make the process feel laborious and disengaging.
I mean to say, if you love cooking and try to create content about finance just because it's popular, you might struggle to stay motivated. Conversely, if you start a cooking blog or YouTube channel, your enthusiasm will likely make the content more engaging and sustainable.
Overlooking Market Research
Before diving into a niche, it's important to understand the audience size, competition, and the existing content. This helps in identifying opportunities and avoiding overly crowded areas.
Failing to Narrow Your Focus
This one is quite complex, even I have experienced this one! A broad topic can attract a broader audience, but it often lacks the personal connection that a specialized niche can offer. A narrower focus helps in establishing expertise and building a dedicated following.
Let’s try and understand this with an example -
Instead of a general health and fitness channel, focusing on yoga for office workers can attract professionals looking to integrate exercise into their busy schedules, setting you apart from general fitness content creators.
Ignoring Audience Feedback
If you run a tech review blog and your readers frequently ask for comparisons between products rather than single reviews, ignoring this feedback might lead to lower engagement. Addressing their requests can boost your relevance and audience satisfaction.
Being Inconsistent
90% people fail because of this reason. Consistency in content creation and interaction helps in building a loyal audience. Inconsistent posting can make it hard for your audience to stay connected to your channel or blog
If you post three videos one week and then nothing for a month, your viewers might lose interest or forget about your channel. Setting a manageable schedule, like posting once a week, can help maintain and grow your audience.
Hope this will help you finding your niche.
